Fields to Streams Manual

Minnesota | Water

Overview

ISG’s water resources experts worked with the University of Minnesota and Minnesota Department of Agriculture to put together a resource to help Minnesota landowners protect rural streams.

Opportunity

A land and water resources management guide was needed for Minnesota landowners and water quality advocates.

Solution

ISG contributed to Fields to Streams: Managing Water in Rural Landscapes, a publication produced by the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Every soil and water conservation District in Minnesota was provided a copy of Fields to Streams, which is designed to help landowners and land managers protect rural streams.

By focusing on how land management and water quality are intertwined in Part One and how to manage sediment and water in Part Two, Fields to Streams is a robust resource for protecting water through proper land management and development practices. The publication is considered an essential guide for Minnesota agencies, landowners, and water quality advocates. Principal authors and contributors included ISG’s Chuck Brandel, PE, Vice President, and Mark Origer, PE, Civil Engineer.
