Dakota Fence/3D Specialties

Fargo, ND | Food + Industrial

Overview

Having already engaged Fargo-based general contractor Enclave, Dakota Fence/3D Specialties hired ISG to help with site selection and design for a new 100,000 sq. ft. facility to accommodate business growth and align with a brand refresh. To enable the next level of business offerings and production volume, required space for new processing equipment and operational procedures needed to be factored into the design. Early on, the ISG team addressed the importance of aligning the design of employee amenities and production spaces with a desired brand refresh, while respecting the budget.

Opportunity

Dakota Fence/3D Specialties has provided traffic control equipment, road signs, and more in the Dakotas and neighboring states over the past four decades. With a desire to grow their Midwest presence as a quality sign producer and to compete regionally as an employer of choice, Dakota Fence/3D Specialties wanted to expand their Fargo operations. The company needed a new space that would include office, manufacturing, and warehouse functionality for existing needs, while allowing for future business growth goals.

Solution

ISG shaped and developed a preliminary site concept plan to address the new facility location, configuration, and site access. After determining the site layout, ISG prepared schematic floor plans for the interior and exterior elevations to illustrate the proposed building material selections. To enable the next level of business offerings and production volume, new processing equipment and operational procedures were also required. This entailed bringing in new equipment and suppliers, necessitating a high level of coordination and communication to ensure adequate building infrastructure design. As well as general arrangement plans with equipment, the team worked on a code review including life safety and American Disability Act (ADA) Standards.
