CSAH I Reconstruction TH3 to TH246

Rice County, MN | Transportation

Overview

ISG led the reconstruction for CSAH 1, an important roadway connecting a number of communities and highways in the area.

Opportunity

As an arterial roadway providing an important regional function between two major highways, CSAH 1’s pavement was in poor condition and in need of rehabilitation.

Solution

ISG designed the reconstruction of approximately 1.6 miles of CSAH 1, and the primary factors that drove design decisions were safety and
performance. The roundabout was selected to meet the performance needs while having an added benefit of calming traffic in this area where there is a transition between suburban and rural surroundings, and creating a safer environment for bicyclists and pedestrians.
