Overview

ISG’s designs for Yum! Brands focused on prototypes that improve efficiency and reinforce branding.

Opportunity

Yum! Brands needed a new prototype for its franchise facilities that increase productivity and reduce operational costs.

Solution

Including iconic restaurants such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut, Yum! Brands’ franchise facilities are located throughout the United States. Designing each franchise’s prototypes, ISG’s full-system solutions focus on creating an efficient space for maximum work flow that results in a high quality and consistent product, shorter production time, and lower overall costs. ISG instigates these operational efficiencies by planning purposeful site designs for renovations and guiding construction for a positive start of new locations.

Kitchen equipment integration is critical to restaurant operations. Tailoring a facility to these needs requires precise coordination with kitchen designers and specialty suppliers, as well as consideration of electrical requirements and plumbing systems. These considerations also help maintain compliance with franchise guidelines, generating consistent products and proficient operations for each facility. Futuristic planning also helps ensure that designs remain functional years after they are constructed.

Providing innovative solutions to challenges is a crucial factor in any project. Given their nationwide locations, a frequent challenge is adapting Yum! Brands’ prescriptive remodeling elements to a variety of building types. This is important because it preserves a consistent look between all restaurant locations. When one material is not available, several options comparable in price, quality, and appearance are offered. Developing creative structural solutions for the facade framing has allowed for a faster construction process so renovations can be completed in four weeks or less.

The combined commitment to persistent development and to providing the most convenient, desirable, and accessible restaurant facilities has helped Yum! Brands spread across the country and achieve national recognition.
