Overview

StruXture Architects has provided architectural services for the design of six of seven fire stations for the City of Waterloo, including the headquarters and 5 of its substations major substations. Fire Station #2 is the latest design and replaced one of the substations to accommodate growing commercial re-development around Crossroads Mall and allow for better and improved access to the main streets surrounding that area. It has a three bay vehicle garage with living quarters for firemen on the first level, designed with single occupancy sleeping rooms, rather than the more common dormitory style, and featuring a state-of-the-art modern kitchen. The second level has fitness and recreation spaces.
