Mount Vernon Community School District

Mount Vernon, IA | Education

Overview

Assisting Mount Vernon Community School District with its bond referendum, ISG delivered facility updates to all three District schools, with a focus on increasing capacity and updating aging learning spaces.

Opportunity

With stable community growth and outdated facilities, Mount Vernon Community School District needed greater capacity in its schools, more contemporary classroom and learning spaces, and a successful bond referendum to make it happen.

Solution

ISG worked with the Mount Vernon Community School District to identify facility needs and develop a referendum planning strategy before a vote on a $12.8 million bond for facilities upgrades. ISG attended open house meetings strategically scheduled to align with parent-teacher conferences, so parents could stop in after their meeting and learn about the proposed referendum. After a successful vote, ISG led three rounds of user group meetings to better understand District needs. Throughout the process, the project team provided monthly project updates to keep the administration, staff, and School Board in the loop as the project progressed. Many of the improvements in the three schools were focused on increasing capacity and updating educational amenities through additions and renovations.
