Leach Park Trail

Spencer, IA | Government + Cultural

Overview

To enhance the community's park and recreation system, the City of Spencer needed this section of the trail program to provide a connection from water access areas to public amenities like an aquatics center and parks.

Solution

The ten foot wide trail is broad enough to accommodate bikers and pedestrians in both directions. It begins at a connection with the sidewalk located next to the Little Sioux River Bridge that crosses this Iowa prairie stream. The trail meanders easterly along the south side of the Little Sioux River through beautiful East Leach Park, past the Spencer Aquatic Center. The trail then turns northerly and crosses the Little Sioux River once again over a picturesque steel bridge.
