What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I enjoy seeing finished plans come together from small site plans to bigger water resources plans and everything in between. When you’ve reached the end of the project and can see all the hard work that everybody put into a plan set, it’s a great feeling.

What has been the most interesting project that you’ve worked on at ISG?

Each project is unique in its own way, but of them all, I think the most interesting one I have worked on so far is Le Sueur County CD 41. It’s a rather small project as county ditches go, but it was the first project I ever worked on when I started as an intern in November of 2018. In the years since, I have worked on it through all its phases and just recently completed the construction drawings. It’s been fun to see how it’s changed as each phase has been completed.

Why did you choose to work in Design?

While working on my Civil Engineering Technology degree, I learned about design, survey, and inspection. I enjoyed the classes for all three, but design was the one that clicked and stuck out to me right from the start. I enjoyed the classes and the work I was doing, and I found myself wanting to learn more.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Most of my free time is spent doing things with my family; we love to do as much together as we can. Enjoying the outdoors, going on bike rides, swimming at the lake or in our pool, playing video games, board games, or any other kind of game we can think of together. I also enjoy watching sports and playing fantasy sports. First—and most importantly—football. SKOL VIKINGS!

What is on your bucket list?

1. There are a lot of places around the world I would like to travel: Greece, Italy, Japan, Hawaii, and many more.

2. I would like to attempt to eat one gallon of chocolate ice cream in one sitting.

3. Win the lottery.
