February 17, 2015 – ISG was recently awarded a 2015 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Award of Excellence for our work on the City of Fairmont Water Treatment Plant. ISG accepted the award along with our consultant team partner AE2S.
The award was presented at the ACEC Minnesota Awards Banquet in January. The event drew over 250 attendees to the Commons Hotel in Downtown Minneapolis. ACEC presents the Engineering Excellence Awards to recognize engineering achievements that exhibit the highest degree of merit and ingenuity. Andy Brandel, PE and Travis Fristed, PWS accepted the award on behalf of ISG.
The Fairmont Water Treatment Plant is a 5.4 million gallon per day (MGD) lime softening plant with granular activated absorbers for taste and odor control. The design incorporated energy-saving solar tube lighting for a reduced electrical demand during the day and landscaping with rain gardens to reduce stormwater runoff. According to ISG Project Manager Joey Wendinger, “the Plant is an uncompromising success, in terms of operations, water quality and aesthetics.”
This year marks an exciting milestone for ISG’s Des Moines, Iowa office as we celebrate a decade of dedication and service to our local community. Over the past ten years, our team has been privileged to contribute to numerous projects that have shaped the landscape and enhanced the quality of life for residents in Central Iowa.
