trū® Shrimp Selects Engineering Firm

June 30, 2017 (Balaton, Minnesota) — The trū® Shrimp Company announced today that it had selected ISG, a top multi-disciplinary firm to support the architectural, engineering, environmental and planning efforts in support of developing a large-scale shrimp aquaculture industry.

This is the next major step in the achievement of trū Shrimp’s mission of providing safe, clean, and abundant shrimp for the world using a sustainable, antibiotic-free and environmentally responsible approach. ISG brings over 40 years of experience and expertise in planning, engineering, environmental compliance, and design to meet the incredible engineering challenges presented by an endeavor of this magnitude.

“We are embarking on a journey that is the first of its kind in the world. In ISG, we found a partner that could provide the professional process, operational, and structural engineering required for our state-of-the-art and bio-secure facilities,” trū Shrimp President and CEO Michael Ziebell said.

Last month trū Shrimp announced it will locate its first $50+ million shrimp production facility, “Luverne Bay Harbor,” in Luverne, Minnesota. trū Shrimp will also begin construction of a training facility, hatchery, and renovation of a processing facility all located in Southwest Minnesota.

The trū Shrimp Company has redefined the shrimp aquaculture industry with their revolutionary technology. The company has developed a comprehensive approach to shrimp production, from genetic center and hatchery to production and processing. This complete support network provides consumers with unprecedented transparency and traceability.

ISG and trū Shrimp are working together to ensure that all components of shrimp production are optimized to be sustainable and environmentally responsible to minimize the impact on the environment. Through advanced water management technology and recycling methods, the system reduces water usage, waste byproducts and carbon foot print.

ISG Principal and Managing Partner Brian Gjerde said trū Shrimp is changing the rules of the shrimp industry with their breakthrough shrimp production system.

“ISG is deeply invested in the success of trū Shrimp and their pioneering technology,” said Gjerde. “We look forward to combining our experience and expertise and developing the shrimp aquaculture industry in Minnesota.”

The trū® Shrimp Company is an affiliate of Ralco, a third-generation family owned multinational company with distribution in more than 20 countries. Ralco supports large segments of the livestock, poultry, aquaculture and crop industries. The trū Shrimp Company strives to supply the world with safe, natural and abundant shrimp.
