Oleson Park

Fort Dodge, IA | Sports + Recreation

Overview

ISG worked with Oleson Park to plan updates for its children’s farm, improve its existing facilities, and enhance its trail system.

Opportunity

Oleson Park wanted to strategically plan improvements to facilities, its pond area, and trail system.

Solution

ISG developed a comprehensive master plan for the Fort Dodge, Iowa, community children’s farm, Oleson Park Children’s Farm. In addition to updates to existing facilities, designs incorporate pond and barnyard improvements, trail paths, and viewing areas site-wide. The master plan’s overall design style takes a modern approach to the vernacular, barnyard aesthetic.

Highlighted by plans for the entry plaza and community shelter, white wood siding, steel roofs, sliding barn doors, and glazing meld the two styles and create an open, clean barn style space for visitors. Gateway designs beckon users towards viewing areas and water features within where ISG’s proposed trails will lead visitors across bridges, through wooded areas, and over to existing band shell, splash pad, and renovated animal petting areas. Close attention was dedicated to designating clear entrance points and incorporating space for adequate parking at strategic locations across the park.
