The Ohio Department of Higher Education Harmful Algal Bloom Research Initiative has partnered with ISG to lead a drainage water recycling (DWR) project that is turning agricultural runoff into a resource. Working with the Ohio State University, Michigan State University, and North Carolina State University, ISG is analyzing fields across five HUC12 watersheds to identify the best sites for DWR systems. ISG’s site identification services include input from internal planning, site selection, and preliminary design specialists with a focus on systems that capture and reuse drainage water to reduce nutrient runoff while supporting farm resilience. ISG is also helping to develop a site ranking workflow that evaluates soils, topography, water availability, permitting, and irrigation feasibility—creating a replicable framework to prioritize sites for water quality improvements.
