Mankato Area Public Schools

The partnership between Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) and ISG spans decades. In 2023, ISG successfully guided MAPS through a critical referendum season, helping secure community support and funding for multiple vital facility projects. Building on that momentum, MAPS chose ISG to lead the design of each project, reflecting their confidence in ISG’s approach, understanding of district priorities, and commitment to delivering facilities that support long‑term student success.

Key Takeaways
  • Long-range facility planning
  • Referendum guidance and success
  • Facility improvements design for 11 schools

Project Highlights

Dakota Meadows Middle School

MAPS goals focused on adding modern athletic spaces to Dakota Meadows Middle School for student and community use. With a new eight‑lane competition pool, multipurpose gymnasium and storm shelter, and seven tennis courts, the upgraded facility enhances daily athletics, improves safety, and offers North Mankato its only indoor public pool.

Mankato West High School

Improvements to West High School feature updates and an expansion of academic, fine arts, and athletic spaces and modernized locker rooms and classrooms. A decommissioned 1950s pool area was transformed into flexible learning spaces, with a new secure entrance, a three‑station gymnasium, and a multi‑purpose wrestling room. Former gymnasium space was converted into a new and dedicated fine arts suite.

Washington Elementary School

An addition and renovation at the elementary school strengthened building security while creating needed staff support spaces. A new secure, controlled main entrance and consolidated staff areas include a reception space, principal’s office, workroom, and nurse’s office. Mechanical system upgrades better support indoor air quality and comfort, resulting in a safer, more efficient learning environment.

Roosevelt Elementary School

An addition and renovation at Roosevelt Elementary School strengthened building security while creating staff support spaces. A secure, controlled main entrance, consolidated staff areas, and mechanical system improvements enhances security, comfort, and indoor air quality. An accessible classroom addition meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and functions as an International Code Council 500–rated storm shelter, designed and tested to the highest safety standards for extreme winds, such as EF-5 tornadoes, up to 250-mile-per-hour winds, and major hurricanes.
