Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (JWP) Athletic Complex

Janesville, MN | Sports + Recreation

Overview

ISG continued their trusted partnership with the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (JWP) Independent School District to design and construct a state-of-the-art outdoor athletic complex to accommodate the District’s varied events and activities.

Opportunity

Through a previous partnership with the JWP to guide the District through a series of system updates, full-scale renovations, and new construction projects across its K-12 facilities, ISG had the experience to hit the ground running as the District sought to update its dilapidated and unsafe athletic complex built in the 1970s.

Solution

The project kicked off in 2016 with the complete demolition of the existing dirt track, field events, and football program facilities. Working closely with District leaders and facility maintenance staff, ISG planned, designed, and managed the construction of the new facility. With a site that was prone to flooding and had poor quality soil, ISG’s designs incorporated flood control measures and developed a solid base for a facility including a synthetic-turf football field with lighting, scoreboard, and bleachers, all-weather track-and-field complex, synthetic-turf softball field, increased storage facilities, permanent concession stands and bathrooms, and paved parking lot. Additionally, ISG incorporated walking trails throughout the complex to help better connect athletes, fans, coaches, and maintenance staff to the facilities.
