ISG Field (Previously Franklin Rogers Ballpark)
Mankato, MN | Sports + Recreation
ISG Field is the home of the Mankato MoonDogs, an amateur team in the Northwoods League. Having previously designed numerous improvements to the stadium such as a steel canopy to provide shelter and shade, incorporation of accessible seating and improved storage areas, and backstop fencing improvements, ISG was chosen to engineer the most ambitious renovations to date.
In order to improve the fan experience, the home of the MoonDogs needed new amenities to heighten the game day experience.
The renovated ISG Field's features were designed to maximize the fan experience. New concession stands, updated restroom facilities, a scoreboard in left field, and a 20x50-foot video board in right field all bring a heightened game day atmosphere. Grass berm seating was also added along the first base line into the outfield, allowing fans to lay out blankets and get comfortable. Increased sight lines of the field were also a focus of the project.
The project also created new unique experiences for the ballpark such as the Dugout Club hospitality area, where fans can rent table seating above the home dugout for the entire season. This area includes its own grill, private wait staff, and unlimited beverages and food. Another added experience is The Dog Pound on the left of the field, where beverages and unlimited food are available for an added cost.
Increased accessibility at the stadium was a focus of the project, with the park now including accessible picnic tables, two ramps, ADA-compliant restrooms, and a designated wheelchair access observation area. ISG also planned landscaping renovations around the park, increasing the aesthetic experience. The new stadium has perks for the players too such as new dugouts with attached locker rooms and synthetic turf. Winter weather is combated by the park’s brand new artificial turf, which will allow the field to be ready far earlier than traditional grass and dirt and require far less upkeep.
