ISG Field

Mankato, MN | Sports + Recreation

Overview

Committed to providing top quality southern Minnesota baseball, ISG and amateur baseball team, the Mankato MoonDogs, partnered to redesign and implement numerous improvements to ISG Field, heightening the gameday experience for spectators and athletes alike.

Opportunity

To increase attendance, enhance user experience, and prevent soggy fields that often result in game delays or cancellations, new ownership decided to invest in features creating a premier destination for area baseball.

Solution

Spectator Experience

Renovations aimed to create an experience unique to ISG Field. A welcoming entrance draws spectators in, while new concession stands, updated restroom facilities, and a shaded canopy accommodate fan needs. A scoreboard in left field and a 20x50-foot video board in right field brings the action into better view, enhancing the gameday atmosphere.

To improve sightlines and provide additional viewing opportunities, ISG designed casual seating from landscaped berms, which allow families and friends to gather while enjoying America’s favorite pastime. The Dog Pound fan zone and the Dugout and Diamond Club hospitality areas were overhauled and provide private table seating above the home dugout and down first base line for the entire season. Featuring a restaurant-style grill, private wait staff, and unlimited food and beverages, the area provides exclusive access to draw in loyal fans and generate revenue.

Accessibility Improvements

Increasing accessibility at the stadium was another design-driver, with implementation of accessible picnic tables, two ramps, ADA-compliant restrooms, and a designated wheelchair access observation area. Connectivity improvements and landscaping renovations around the park simultaneously increased the aesthetic appeal.

Athlete Amenities

The new stadium has perks for the players too, featuring new dugouts with attached locker rooms to improve athlete comfort and performance. New, state-of-the-art artificial turf reduces maintenance needs and combats flooding caused by the region’s winter weather and delays due to rain events, allowing athletes to focus on game time action.
