Overview
ISG helped plan, prioritize, and design a wide range of building improvements for Faribault Public Schools after a successful referendum.
Opportunity
With $30 million of facility maintenance improvements needed in its aging building stock, Faribault School District needed assistance to plan, prioritize, and implement a multi-year series of deferred maintenance projects with its $15 million bond referendum.
Solution
To ensure that Faribault Public Schools’ facilities could better serve the District’s students and community, ISG worked with District leaders to determine a project schedule that prioritized projects based on need, preference, and alignment with the summer off-season to avoid disruption. This plan required a highly strategic scheduling and financial forecasting approach to adhere to project budgets and enabled new construction, repair, replacement, and renovation projects across multiple design disciplines. ISG led the design of these projects, which include window replacements, parking lot and exterior masonry repairs, HVAC system upgrades, as well as full-service facility additions and renovations. ISG’s planning led to the successful completion of every project under budget and on time.
During one summer, two of the District’s elementary schools underwent HVAC system replacement. The buildings were shut down for the summer to make these changes, and the schools opened on time and fully functional. All systems were brought into full compliance with ASHRAE standards, also increasing overall energy performance throughout.
