District 1 Community Center

To better serve the evolving needs of its community, the Ho-Chunk Nation envisioned a new community center that supports youth, adults, and elders alike, while honoring cultural identity and promoting wellness.

Separate zones allow youth activities and community events to happen simultaneously. Two gymnasiums, a wellness center with a running track and studio space, and modern classrooms provide spaces for movement, learning, and connection. More than a building, the new District 1 Community Center reflects the Ho-Chunk Nation’s commitment to future generations and provides a safe, welcoming hub for all.

  • 60,000-square-foot modern facility
  • Developed through close collaboration with community stakeholders
  • Flexible spaces for recreation, education, and gatherings
  • Two commercial kitchens for meals and cultural events
  • Sustainable geothermal system and in-floor heating for efficient year-round use
