About
While completing his degree in civil engineering at Minnesota State University, Mankato, Sam developed a strong interest in structural systems; curious about what supports buildings and why they remain standing. This quickly developed into a passion for structural engineering and a position with ISG’s leadership team. As Structural Engineering Practice Group Leader, Sam is responsible for overseeing the assignment of project activities and building the right teams with the necessary skill set to ensure project success. He works collaboratively across disciplines on strategic proposals and processes to provide accurate information to move forward on project pursuits. Sam looks for ways to build on each team member’s strengths while keeping processes simple, and creating opportunities for the team to grow.
Throughout his career at ISG, Sam has designed and managed a wide variety of project types with substantial experience in PreK-12 education, industrial, agribusiness, commercial, and housing business units. He also specializes in the structural design of historic renovation and preservation projects to limit the impacts of modification and maintain the building’s exterior fabric.
When working with clients, Sam takes a listen-first approach to identify the appropriate scope of work and then coordinates with ISG professional services to meet project needs. His responsive communication throughout the project allows for flexibility when changes need to be made to accommodate client requests.
