In the fast-paced world of telecommunications infrastructure, ISG has implemented an advantageous approach: pre-survey construction analysis. This method results in data-backed solutions that streamline projects while promoting safety and reliability for communities.

Think of this process as a high-tech scavenger hunt. Before starting our pole route design process, our telecommunications and energy team conducts extensive research of a preliminary route using a variety of resources, including County Municipal Geographic Information System (GIS) websites, pipeline data, railroad information, federal websites, and our own GIS database. This preparation provides essential context and clarity of our client’s proposed route, reducing the need for additional field visits and added costs.

Armed with cutting-edge technology such as 360 cameras, Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) scanners, and ArcGIS field maps, our telecommunications and construction experts also gather field data. To evaluate the feasibility of utilizing above-ground poles versus underground solutions, they consider site factors like existing infrastructure, landowners, street and soil conditions, and environmental considerations such as wetlands. Every detail, from field notes to GPS coordinates, is recorded to ensure comprehensive data capture and analysis.

Back at the office, our designers evaluate this information to finalize construction plans. This collaborative process blends creativity with strategic planning, resulting in the delivery of efficient, cost-effective, and timely solutions for our clients.

Pre-Survey Construction Analysis Benefits

  • Reduces timelines
  • Obtains data for better decisions
  • Plans efficient resource allocation
  • Avoids make-ready costs
  • Identifies cost-effective routes
  • Streamlines approvals

Picture This

Your telecommunications company plans to go aerial without conducting a pre-survey constriction analysis. After fielding and collecting all the necessary data, your team realizes, weeks later, that the poles are unsuitable for joint use. These weeks of effort to collect permitting data could have been avoided with a pre-walkout and expert advice on aerial versus underground solutions.

ISG’s detailed field evaluations and strategic insights enable informed decision-making, preventing costly delays and keeping projects on track. By maximizing site understanding from the outset, we ensure efficient project delivery.
