ISG Named Business of the Year by Grow Cedar Valley

June 22, 2020 (Waterloo, Iowa) – Based on its growing presence in eastern Iowa and efforts to give back to the community, ISG has received the 2020 Business of the Year Award from Grow Cedar Valley, an organization devoted to the growth of businesses in the region. ISG’s Waterloo office was honored as one of two businesses of the year (1-50 full-time employees), marking the firm’s growing impact in the region since expanding its footprint to Waterloo in 2018.

ISG’s Waterloo team is active throughout the Cedar Valley, particularly with school districts and municipalities, to enhance community facilities and amenities. A recent example is our collaboration with the City of Waterloo and Mayor Hart to evaluate 30 City owned facilities. ISG collaborated with City staff to develop a plan for ongoing maintenance and major development projects intended to enhance the City’s ability to support residents, visitors, and businesses.

ISG continues to design projects that impact the Cedar Valley in a positive way. Recent efforts include a 500-lot residential subdivision in Cedar Falls, the redevelopment of the former Ramada Hotel into a Best Western in downtown Waterloo, improvements to the 5 Sullivan Brother Convention Center and numerous educational projects throughout the region, including the new Lowell Elementary School, which is currently under construction.

ISG’s role in contributing to a thriving Cedar Valley extend outside of the firm’s work in the region. Employee owners across the firm support educational programs in their local communities, including a partnership with Waterloo Career Development Center, partners in education with both Cedar Falls and Waterloo. ISG also visits Iowa schools, colleges, and universities to share real-world applications of STEAM education in the A/E industry. Additionally, these efforts have extended outside the classroom, as ISG is active participating and sponsoring golf charities, creative community events like ARTapalooza, and philanthropic non-profit organizations such as Cedar Valley United Way.

Community development requires enthusiastic participation of individuals teaming together to improve the places in which we work, live, and play. The Cedar Valley provides a generous opportunity for growth and ideas that will impact the region for years to come. In the last two years, ISG has attracted multiple team members from outside the region to join our team in efforts to participate in this growth.
